A man of prodigious fortune, coming to add his opinion to some light discussion that was going on casually at his table, began precisely thus: "It can only be a liar or an ignoramus who will say otherwise than," and so on. Pursue that philosophical point, dagger in hand. --Michel de Montaigne, Of the art of discussion. Stab back: cmnewman99-at-yahoo.com Home

Josh Marshall asks: Think of it this way: when was the last time one of our friends -- or someone friendly, rather than unfriendly, to our current policies -- won an election in a major country around the world?Um, I tend to be pretty shamefully tuned out when it comes to following politics, but even I can come up with an answer to that one. May, 2001. Berlusconi. Or isn't Italy a "major country"? I still think he's making a valid point, though.
